The Rocky Mountaineer Railtours retraces the legendary routes of Canada's first transcontinental railways as it travels eastbound and westbound between Vancouver, Banff/Calgary as well as Vancouver and Jasper.

The trip has been touted by many as ¨The Most Spectacular Train Trip in the World¨ Breathtaking views of the majestic, snow-covered Canadian Rockies, rugged canyons and seemingly endless green meadows and valleys are only interrupted by sightings of Big Horn Sheep and Moose. Other scenic sights include Banff and Glacier National parks, the Kicking and Rogers passes, the ¨Spiral Tunnels¨, the Thompson and Fraser River Canyons and the ¨Last Spike¨ at Craigellachie, among many more.

The 600 passenger train is equipped with air-conditioned, wide windowed rail coaches with large reclining seats and plenty of leg room to allow you to enjoy the trip in comfort. Assigned seating will be available at the station and all seating is non-smoking. Day 1 Whistler Arrival
Arrive in Whistler and spend time exploring this picturesque mountain resort on your own. Overnight in Whistler

Day 2 Whistler to Quesnel
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the four-season mountain resort of Whistler to the charming rural town of Quesnel, the gateway to the North Cariboo. Enjoy breathtaking and varied scenery, from the lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley, to the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon. Highlights include the shorelines of Anderson Lake and glacial fed Seton Lake, sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon and Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer follows the banks of the Fraser River into Quesnel. Overnight in Quesnel.

Day 3 Quesnel to Jasper
Your journey continues eastward today to the majestic Canadian Rockies and Jasper National Park. From Quesnel the Rocky Mountaineer follows the Fraser River north to the town of Prince George and then travels east through the forests of Northern British Columbia, home to plentiful wildlife including a large population of moose. Entering the Rocky Mountain Trench you are surrounded to the north by the steeply rising Rocky Mountains and to the south by the Cariboo Mountains. Continue climbing past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), and through the Yellowhead Pass into the province of Alberta. Your rail journey ends today on arrival in the resort town of Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 2 Jasper to Quesnel
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the mountain resort of Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to the charming rural town of Quesnel, gateway to the North Cariboo. Pass through the Rocky Mountain Trench with the steep Rocky and Cariboo Mountains either side, and onto the rolling hills and vast forests of British Columbia’s northern interior. Highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Yellowhead Pass and Moose Lake. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer passes through the town of Prince George and follows the Fraser River into Quesnel. Overnight in Quesnel.

Day 3 Quesnel to Whistler
Your journey continues south today to the four-season resort of Whistler. Enjoy breathtaking and varied scenery, from the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon, and the Cariboo Plateau with its rolling hills and vast ranchlands, to the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley. Highlights include sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon and Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world and the shorelines of Anderson Lake and glacial fed Seton Lake. Your rail journey ends today on arrival in the resort town of Whistler, host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games alpine events. Overnight in Whistler.

It delivers the unique blend of contrasts the Sea to Sky highway corridor is famous for: cities and old-growth forests, bustling action and natural serenity, deep valleys and snow-capped peaks, seascapes and mountain views, all delivered with world-class Western Canadian hospitality.

Whistler Mountaineer - Vancouver to Whistler

Depart from North Vancouver Rail Station pass under the Lions Gate Bridge and enjoy the early morning views of downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park as the train hugs the scenic waterfront of West Vancouver's exclusive residential area. After passing through the Horseshoe Bay Tunnel, travel along the eastern shores of Howe Sound with the British Columbia Coastal Mountains rising steeply to the right and stunning views of ocean and mountain to the left. As you near the town of Squamish, BC, look out for the impressive cascade of Shannon Falls and the spectacular dome peak of Mount Garibaldi, rising 2,678 metres (8787 feet). Pass through the yards of the West Coast Rail Association, home of the Royal Hudson steam train, before climbing a steep grade through the Cheakamus Canyon, where the river below tumbles through a craggy gorge. Cross over the pinnacle of Brandywine Falls before arriving at Whistler, year-round resort renowned for skiing and outdoor activities, and the end of today's scenic rail tour.


Whistler Mountaineer - Whistler to Vancouver

Depart the resort of Whistler on the scenic train trip to North Vancouver. Cross over the pinnacle of Brandywine Falls before descending a steep grade through the Cheakamus Canyon, where the river below tumbles through a craggy gorge. Pass through the town of Squamish, BC, home to the West Coast Rail Association and the Royal Hudson steam train, and look out for the spectacular dome peak of Mount Garibaldi, rising 2,678 metres (8787 feet). Continuing south, pass the impressive cascade of Shannon Falls, as the train hugs the eastern shores of Howe Sound with the British Columbia Coast Mountains rising steeply to the left and stunning views of ocean and mountain to the right.
